SHIATSU

The Japanese word Shiatsu literally translates as finger pressure. The Shiatsu practitioner uses thumbs, fingers, palms, elbows, knees and stretching techniques to stimulate and balance the same meridians system of energy flow as is used in Acupuncture. On a more subtle level Shiatsu allows the receiver to relax deeply and get in touch with their own body's healing abilities.

Shiatsu can often relieve specific complaints but above all it helps to maintain optimum health, bringing relaxation and a feeling well-being, enabling people to live their lives to the full and counter everyday stress.

Treatments are given on a mat or futon on the floor. The receiver remains fully clothed and should wear loose, warm and comfortable clothing such as a tracksuit.

The number of treatments required varies according to the condition being treated and following successful treatment, a maintenance programme of regular Shiatsu treatments should always be considered.

From 2011 The Advertising Standards Agency has set down restrictions on advertising by complementary therapists so I can no longer claim that the Bowen Technique is able to treat specific health problems by name. In view of this, at this time, I am unable to list the many conditions I have successfully treated with Shiatsu. Please contact me to discuss your symptoms.
