BOWEN TECHNIQUE - JOINT AND MUSCLE PAIN

After many years of suffering various joint and muscle pain and countless fruitless trips to my doctor and hospitals etc. I was vaguely diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2010. I had suffered on and off with severe pain in my lower back and hip. After reading an article about Bowen technique I decided to give it a try. After 9 sessions with Joy I felt like a new person. I began to feel a difference after the 2 sessions. Bowen has given me a sense of balance back into my life and for the first time in a long time I am pain free.

SHIATSU TENSION/STRESS – HEADACHES

Over the past year I have visited Joy Fisher for a monthly shiatsu treatment. I was suffering from tension and stress. This caused headaches, clenching of jaws and I found it very difficult to relax and also get a good night’s sleep.

The shiatsu treatment has been truly remarkable. I noticed a difference after the first session. I now feel much more relaxed and have a positive mental attitude and this has resulted in being able to cope better with pressures at work.

SHIATSU – ARTHRITIC NECK & BACK

When it was first suggested to me that a course of Shiatsu might be of some benefit I was rather sceptical. However, having suffered with arthritis for some years I decided there was nothing to lose in giving it a try. I have now been seeing Joy Fisher and having regular Shiatsu for three months and can honestly say I feel so much better. In particular, the mobility in my arthritic neck has significantly improved and the pain in my lower back has reduced. I would recommend Shiatsu to anyone and shall certainly continue with my treatment.

SHIATSU   – SCIATICA

I had been suffering from consistent pain my left buttock and down my let to my ankle. I visited my GP who diagnosed Sciatica and prescribed pain killers (which were only effective for a few hours). I also had six treatments from the Physiotherapist at the hospital – which did help a little and then a friend suggested that I should contact Joy and make an appointment for Shiatsu treatment.

I had never heard of this treatment before – but soon found out that it was a very gentle and effective treatment applied to the body at the pressure points by use of hands and feet and gentle massage. I still do not understand how it works – but it certainly did for me – as by the time I had 4 or 5 sessions I was well on the way to having pain relief.

As the treatments are very gentle and relaxing, I visit Joy every six weeks as I do know it helps my "well being" and I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with the aromatherapy oils burning and the music.

BOWEN TECHNIQUE – SCIATICA & BACK PAIN

Several months ago I had a bad attack of sciatica and was in extreme pain. After two visits to Joy my condition had considerably improved and after a further three sessions of the Bowen Technique I was fully recovered.

Joy has also treated me for a pulled muscle in my back and, again, after one visit the pain was reduced. I only needed one more treatment to be completely fit.

I can thoroughly recommend Joy for her skilful use of the Bowen Technique and shiatsu treatments.

Joy has also successfully treated my daughter who has an ongoing back problem and by regular visits to Joy the condition is kept at bay.

THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE – LIMITED SHOULDER MOBILITY

I was first introduced to the Bowen Technique by Joy, my shiatsu practitioner. I had limited movement in my left arm for at least ten years. Whilst swimming using backstroke I looked a bit funny. However, Joy did two Bowen treatments on me and lo and behold I could touch my ears with my arms.

On 21 May 1999 I had a radical mastectomy on my left breast for breast cancer. ……..The physiotherapist visited me several times. My shoulder was stiff and painful. I saw my consultant on 7 June and the most movement I could get was to hold my arm out straight level to my shoulder and this was painful. Mr Callan told me that this was one time when you didn’t listen to your body and I had to work through the pain otherwise I could end up with a frozen shoulder.

Blow this, I thought, I know someone who could help me. I rang Joy (a month after my operation) and she came to see me on Friday 18 June. She only did two movements the first time. My shoulder responded straight away. The stiffness went almost immediately and I had more movement. I had three further treatments and the results have been dramatic. I now have nearly full mobility. The only thing stopping me having full mobility is my scar pulls a bit as it is still healing.

I have shown my oncologist the movement in my arm and he was very impressed and told me that I’ve got more movement than most women and this stage…………………….

THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE – ARM , HIP & KNEE PAIN

I first came into contact with Joy Fisher through my wife. I had had painful arms every morning when I awoke. My wife booked me into Joy. I was very reluctant to go as I am very sceptical. Anyway to my surprise I had three "Bowens" and the pains in my arms went straight away.

Last year after suffering years of pain with my hip, I went to see Joy to see if she could do anything. I had three Shiatsus and the pain went.

I had a cartilage operation many years ago and for the last six or seven years I have had a lot of pain. It has steadily got worse, so much so that I couldn’t go walking. I was due to go to Austria in August this year and my wife persuaded me to go and see Joy to see if she could "fix" my knee. She did four Bowens on my knee and the results were excellent. I was not only able to walk up mountains but walked down a mountain the equivalent of Ben Nevis with no problems.

I would recommend that anyone who has a problem which conventional methods to not see to help should try Bowen or Shiatsu.

THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE – KNEE PAIN & POST-OPERATIVE ARM PAIN

This is to confirm that Joy Fisher has successfully treated me for a very painful knee which I am sure was arthritic. I had severe pain when walking over rough ground or walking down stairs. Now I have little or no pain, except when I walk awkwardly. This change in my condition has been achieved in six visits.

I have also recently undergone open heart surgery for the second time in my life, having had the vein replacement taken from my arm. Joy has also treated this and has successfully reduced the pain in my arm and hand with two sessions using the Bowen Technique.

In the past I have also suffered with a painful back. Since Joy successfully treated me with Shiatsu, I have not had any recurrence of the problem.

THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE – SEVERE KNEE PAIN

Thirteen years ago I was told by the hospital that the painful condition of my knees could be treated by an operation but there was no guarantee of success. In fact,. There was a fifty-fifty chance that I could end up in a wheelchair. Under the circumstances it was suggested that I go away and live with the pain until it became so acute that I felt I had no choice but to have the operation.

That time came about a year ago and I told my employer that I was going to book an appointment at the hospital as I was in extreme pain. It was suggested to me that I should see Joy first and this I did. After one Bowen treatment I was free from pain for the first time in thirteen years.

I am still free of pain unless I lift heavy objects or am working on uneven ground. I have often remarked that it is like a miracle to be pain-free after all these years.

THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE – LOWER BACK PAIN

I had suffered with lower back pain for many years and had tried physiotherapy, osteopathy and even acupuncture with no success. On recommendation from a friend I tried the Bowen Technique. It took a few weekly visits before it started feeling better, but then after a few more sessions at two and later four week intervals the back pain was a thing of the past.

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM THERAPY

I must admit I was sceptical when a friend recommended this treatment. However, I was feeling pretty desperate as a problem was preying on my mind, resulting in panic attacks.

I made an appointment with Joy and at the end of the first session I felt a sense of calm and was able to face the problem rationally. I had one more session with Joy where a few remaining issues were dealt with. The sense of calm remained with me. It was quite remarkable.

Since then I have recommended this therapy to a number of friends.

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM THERAPYRELATIONSHIP PROBLEM
I first heard about Emotional Freedom Therapy when I was having a shiatsu session. I had experienced family emotional problems since I was a child. I am now in my fifties and was not happy about having counselling, although that was what I had been advised to have. When Emotional Freedom Therapy was explained to me I was sceptical initially but thought I would try it. I started coming to terms with my problem after the first session and after a few sessions I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. It is now over a year ago since my last session and the problems that caused me so much distress over the past years have gone.

EMOTIONAL FREEDOM THERAPY – COMING TO TERMS WITH ILLNESS

I first saw the effect of Emotional Freedom Therapy on my friend but was very sceptical about it working for me. EFT dealt with a problem my friend had had for all the thirty years I had known her and also before that. However, I was diagnosed with diabetes in March of this year. To me this was the final straw since I had had breast cancer last year and a subsequent mastectomy followed by radiotherapy and was still recovering from all this. Joy had already treated me successfully for post-operative pain and lack of mobility in my arm and she suggested I try EFT to enable me to handle being diabetic. At first I was resistant to this idea but I found being diagnosed with diabetes very hard to come to terms with and after struggling with depression in relation to this I decided to "have a go". I couldn’t believe it – after one session of EFT I have accepted my diabetes. I don’t like having diabetes but it is something that I now feel I can learn to live with. After such a dramatic impact I also had EFT for other reasons. Again these problems were laid to rest. I would recommend anyone try this – it is much quicker than conventional counselling and you can feel the release in your body.
